Robert Coudray (1954) from Brittany, France, was a film-maker by education and had all kinds of professions, but eventually, following his vocation, he became a creator of movable creative constructs, most of them made from recycled and scrap material.
He calls himself in french a poète ferrailleur, what in english would be something like poet/scrap trader.
In the title of this post I left this denotation untranslated, because, well, it doesn´t sound so ..... poetic.
Nowadays already for some twenty years, mr Coudray has been making creative poetic constructs. This has resulted in a most wonderful and fantastic collection of flying objects, mechanical puppets, machines, clocks, bikes, cars.
Most of them will be moving around, work like automatons, and all together all these creations make an amazing creative environment.
You should see the videos on mr Coudray's website.
Here is an example: the trailer of the movie (24 min, 2003) le secret de Mermoz (the secret of Mermoz), about a solitary man, who as boy dreamt of flying in his self-made flying machine
And I also would recommend to visit Sophie Lepetit's recent posts in her blog lesgrigrisdesophie, with nice pictures, both of the interior and the exterior
But of course, the best would be to see them in reality.
This is possible. All creations can be seen in and around mr Coudray's museum, that is located in the village of Lizio, in the Morbihan area of Bretagne in France.
